DECATUR, Miss. — East Central Community College opens the 2025 baseball season with a focus on growth and consistency following a 46–16 campaign that ended in the MACCC Championship Series last spring.
Head coach Neal Holliman said last season's postseason run has not altered the program's approach.
"Our goal is always the same — to take the group we have and maximize our potential," Holliman said. "We want this team to reach its full potential."
The Warriors return an athletic roster and feature depth on the mound, though Holliman noted the early portion of the season will be spent establishing an identity with several new faces in the program.
"We feel like we are athletic and have depth on the mound," Holliman said. "There are still a lot of unknowns right now because it's early and we have a lot of new faces. There are pieces here to do some quality things, but our identity will be built on how consistent we can be in all phases of the game."
Rather than targeting one specific area in the offseason, Holliman emphasized overall development and unity.
"It goes back to getting each team and each player to their maximum potential," Holliman said. "It's about everyone pulling in the same direction and making sacrifices for the betterment of the team."
Holliman said early success will be defined by progress as the season unfolds.
"Success for us early will look like growth," Holliman said. "No team is exactly where they want to be at this point in the year, and we need to make sure that growth happens early so we can compete at a championship level."
