EAST CENTRAL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER AT COAHOMA

Game 1: Warriors 7, Tigers 1

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Davin Lowery went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs, and Landry Winter tossed five strong innings to lead East Central Community College to a 7-1 victory over Coahoma Community College in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Clarksdale.

Winter (2-0) held Coahoma to three hits and one earned run over five innings, walking three and striking out three. Ty Derrick followed with three hitless innings, fanning three more, and Ryan Nelson closed it out with a scoreless ninth.

Lowery set the tone from the leadoff spot, reaching base all four plate appearances and scoring twice. Brannon Hill went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Briceton Johnson added a solo home run in the fourth inning. Luke Williams drove in a run on a sacrifice, and Landon Moore contributed a double and scored twice.

Coahoma starter Ryne Herrington took the loss, allowing three earned runs over six innings, but reliever Andrew Woods surrendered four runs on four hits in three innings of work, including a home run to Lowery.

East Central (W, Landry Winter 2-0) improved with the victory while holding Coahoma to five hits on the day.


Game 2: Warriors 11, Tigers 5

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Mason Hickman belted a home run and drove in two runs while Ryder White (3-0) threw three shutout innings in relief to lead East Central Community College to an 11-5 victory over Coahoma in the nightcap.

East Central scored six runs in the fifth inning to break the game open after entering the frame trailing 5-3. Davin Lowery continued his big day with two more RBIs, finishing the doubleheader a combined 6-for-8 with three extra-base hits and four RBIs across both games.

Lowery doubled in the fifth and finished 3-for-4 in the second game. Kayden Peoples added a double, an RBI and a stolen base, and Will Williams drove home two runs. Hickman provided the big blow with a solo shot and finished 2-for-4.

East Central starter Cade Morrow struggled, allowing four earned runs in two innings, but the bullpen steadied the ship. Nelson Haas and Landon Moore bridged the gap before White took over in the fifth and retired all nine batters he faced, striking out four. Ethan Burton worked a clean seventh.

Coahoma starter Tanner Bridgewater allowed eight earned runs on nine hits in four innings and absorbed the loss. Relievers Brenden Killinger and Ashton Hall combined to allow three more runs, and the Coahoma staff issued five wild pitches in the contest.

Colyn West had two RBIs and William Kolby Baker drove in two for Coahoma, which finished with five hits in the second game.
