Jordan Whittington serves as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at East Central Community College, where he has been a member of the Warriors’ coaching staff since 2022. A Madison, Miss., native, Whittington joined the program as the assistant men’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator before being elevated to lead the program in 2026.
Whittington is deeply rooted in Mississippi basketball and is no stranger to the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC). Prior to arriving at East Central, he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Hinds Community College, where he coached six All-MACCC players — including a conference Player of the Year — and consistently increased the program’s win total. Throughout his junior college coaching career, he has made it a priority to recruit, develop, and assist multiple athletes in continuing their careers at the four-year level, building lasting relationships with high school coaches and standout players across the Southeast.
Before his time in the college ranks, Whittington launched his coaching career as an assistant at Madison Central High School. He also brings extensive experience from the AAU circuit, having coached on the Nike, Adidas, and Independent circuits — recruiting and developing numerous Division I and Division II prospects and leading teams to undefeated finishes in national tournament competition. His reputation as a player developer is well established; he has worked with NBA veterans Greg Monroe and Langston Galloway, as well as professional and high-level players including Jalen Myers (University of Hawaii), Dee Bost (AS Monaco), Quindary Weatherspoon (Golden State Warriors), and Matt Hayman (Arkansas State), among many others.
Whittington’s academic preparation mirrors his coaching pedigree. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sports administration from Mississippi State University in 2019, where he also served as a manager for the Bulldogs’ men’s basketball program under Head Coach Ben Howland — an experience that shaped his understanding of the game at the highest level. He later earned his master’s degree in sports administration from Arkansas State University in 2021, rounding out a foundation built equally on education and experience
