East Central Men's Golf Concludes Season at Gulf District Tournament; Will Thompson Advances to NJCAA DII Nationals

Tunica, MS--The East Central Community College (ECCC) men's golf team wrapped up its 2025 season with a commendable performance at the NJCAA Gulf District Championship, held April 21–23 at Tunica National Golf and Tennis in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. Under the guidance of first-year head coach Matthew Perry, the Warriors secured a fifth-place finish in the team standings, demonstrating growth and resilience throughout the season.​

A standout moment came from sophomore Will Thompson, who earned an individual qualification for the 2025 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship by finishing seventh overall in the tournament. Thompson's achievement marks a significant milestone for the program, highlighting both his personal dedication and Coach Perry's effective leadership.​

Coach Perry, who stepped into the head coach role this season, expressed pride in Thompson's accomplishment, noting it as a testament to the hard work and commitment displayed by the team. Thompson will represent ECCC at the national championship in Plymouth, Indiana, from May 20–23, 2025.​

The Warriors' season concludes with a strong team finish and an individual national qualifier, setting a solid foundation for the future of ECCC men's golf under Coach Perry's leadership.
