DECATUR, Miss. — East Central Community College turned in a complete performance Wednesday afternoon, sweeping Mineral Area College in a home softball doubleheader with wins of 6-2 and 5-4 in Decatur.

The Lady Warriors opened the day with steady pitching and a timely offensive surge to take control of the opener. Mineral Area College struck first with a run in the second inning, but East Central answered in the bottom half and seized momentum in the third with a five-run inning that proved decisive.

Madye Bath led the offense in the first game, finishing with three hits and a run scored. Kathryn Montz added multiple hits and crossed the plate twice, while Brette Loftin and Maleigh Lemings each drove in a run during the third-inning rally. Lanayah Henry also contributed an RBI as East Central capitalized on extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning.

Ava Mosley earned the win in the circle, working 5 2/3 innings and allowing just three hits while striking out six. Mosley worked through traffic efficiently, limiting Mineral Area's scoring chances and keeping the Lady Cardinals from building momentum. Lynleigh Burt closed out the contest in relief, retiring the final hitters she faced to secure the 6-2 victory.

The second game developed into a back-and-forth battle, with Mineral Area applying pressure in the middle innings. East Central responded in the fourth, stringing together quality at-bats to score three runs and regain the lead.

Barcley Martinez delivered a key two-run double in the inning, while Lyric Lay and Lemings each drove in runs to keep pressure on the Mineral Area defense. Montz continued her strong day at the plate with a three-hit performance in the nightcap, and Bath added an extra-base hit as East Central totaled 11 hits in the game.

Neely Wolverton started the second game for the Lady Warriors, pitching four innings before turning things over to the bullpen. Manda Rie Leach followed with two scoreless innings, holding Mineral Area in check and setting the stage for a dramatic finish. Lanayah Henry earned the win after working the top of the seventh, striking out two batters and shutting the door defensively.

Mineral Area tied the game late, but East Central responded in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs, Martinez delivered a walk-off hit to score the winning run and complete the sweep for the Lady Warriors.

East Central committed just one error across the doubleheader and finished the day with balanced contributions at the plate and in the circle.
