The East Central Community College Lady Warrior basketball team pulled out another south division win against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Tuesday, Jan. 17 in Perkinston.
ECCC trailed by two at the half, but with a strong second half performance the Lady Warriors defeated MGCCC 77-68.
Freshman forward Autumn Taylor of Newton High School led all scorers putting up 25 points. Three other Lady Warriors also were in double-digits. Curtisha "Mae" Coleman of Wayne County High School had 19 points and eight rebounds, Shantavis Hughes of Hattiesburg High School with 13 points and LaNeisha Jeans of Pine Forest (Fla.) High School with 12.
East Central took the lead with 4:18 left in the third 47-46 after trailing by as much as 10 in the first half.
Gulf Coast cut their deficit to 69-67 on a layup with 3:02 left, but ECCC scored nine of the last 10 points of the game for the victory.
The Lady Warriors move to 8-4 on the season and 2-1 in the south division.
The East Central women's basketball team will host Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium Thursday, Jan. 19. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
