DECATUR, Miss. — The East Central Community College Lady Warriors dropped a close 51–44 road contest to Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Thursday night inside Mullen Gym. The loss evens East Central's record at 1–1 on the young season.
Sophomore Mikayla Holifield led the way for the Lady Warriors with a team-high 18 points and seven rebounds, while Raiyleigh Perry added eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Charity Beemon also contributed seven boards and three points.
East Central battled evenly on the glass, matching Co-Lin with 42 rebounds, but struggled to convert offensively, shooting 29.3 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from three-point range. Despite holding the Wolves to just 30 percent shooting, free throws proved the difference as Co-Lin went 14-for-18 from the line compared to ECCC's 7-for-17.
The Lady Warriors trailed 29–25 at halftime and entered the fourth quarter down 42–32 before cutting the deficit to single digits late, but the comeback fell short.
East Central will look to bounce back on Monday, Nov. 10, when the Lady Warriors host Lawson State Community College at 5:30 p.m. inside Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium.
