For the second time in five days, the road was not kind to the East Central Community College men's and women's soccer teams as they both lost matches at Pearl River Community College on Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Poplarville.
In the opener, the Pearl River Lady Wildcats made a first half goal stand up in a 1-0 shutout of the ECCC Lady Warriors
"The girls were very good going forward in the first half but just couldn't finish any chances in the final third," said ECCC head women's coach Ryan Joiner after the non-division match. "We're playing good soccer and continually improving for the division opener against Itawamba on Friday."
The ECCC Lady Warriors are now 1-2 on the season, while the Pearl River Lady Wildcats won their first match to improve to 1-2.
The men's matchup that followed was all Pearl River. The Wildcats scored five goals in each half for a 10-2 win. Sophomore midfielder Logan Wilkerson out of George County and sophomore midfielder Vitor Gomes of Fortaleza, Brazil, scored East Central's only two goals in the second half.
The Warriors fell to 0-2 on the season, while the Pearl River Wildcats remained undefeated at 3-0.
