GULF SHORES, Ala. — The East Central Community College volleyball team gained valuable experience at the Alabama Gulf Coast Classic this weekend, finishing 1–3 in a competitive stretch of matches at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex. The results move the Warriors to 8–8 overall, while their conference record remains unchanged since the Itawamba match, though a conference opponent, was played at a neutral site.
ECCC opened play on Friday with an impressive 3–1 victory over Bishop State Community College, taking sets 25–18, 20–25, 25–22, and 25–20. The Warriors' balanced attack and consistent serving helped them close out the final two frames and start the tournament on a high note.
Later that day, East Central fell to Itawamba Community College in three sets (16–25, 17–25, 23–25). Although it was a matchup between conference foes, the result did not count toward the MACCC standings due to its neutral-site designation.
Saturday's action included a 3–0 setback to Snead State Community College (18–25, 17–25, 20–25), followed by a competitive 3–1 loss to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (17–25, 19–25, 25-19, 18–25). Across both matches, the Warriors showed strong defensive effort and extended rallies but were unable to convert late points into set wins.
Despite the 1–3 finish, the trip to Gulf Shores provided meaningful non-conference experience and opportunities for the Warriors to fine-tune their play heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
