Booneville, Miss. — East Central Community College bounced back in the win column Monday night, defeating Northeast Mississippi 3–1 (25-22, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22) inside Bonner Arnold Coliseum. The Lady Warriors improved to 9-8 overall and 6-4 in MACCC play with the road victory.
Sophomore Ainslee Copeland powered the East Central offense, tallying 17 kills, four service aces, and 18 total points to lead all scorers. Freshman Cecillia Hikari-Hosaka was equally efficient at the net, adding 14 kills on a .438 hitting percentage while pairing with setter Anna Wojtczak for multiple key runs in the middle sets. Wojtczak directed the attack with 44 assists and contributed six-and-a-half points herself.
Defensively, libero Emily Truan anchored the back row, finishing with a team-high 21 digs as the Warriors limited the Tigers to just a .147 hitting clip across four sets. The blocking duo of Wojtczak and Addison Vaughn added three solo and eight assisted blocks to seal the win late in the fourth.
The Lady Warriors will return home on Wednesday, Oct. 8, hosting Pearl River Community College at 6:30 p.m. CT in Founders Gymnasium on Community Bank Court. The matchup will feature Camouflage Night for fans in attendance.
