SUMMIT, Miss. — East Central Community College dropped a hard-fought five-set match to Southwest Mississippi Community College on Monday night, falling 3–2 (18–25, 25–11, 25–23, 17–25, 6–15). The loss moves the Lady Warriors to 11–11 overall and 7–7 in conference play.
Sophomore Riley Tosseng led the way offensively, recording 15 kills on a .255 hitting percentage while adding two blocks. Cecilia Hikari-Hosaka followed with 10 kills, five service aces, and 16 digs for a well-rounded performance. Setter Anna Wojtczak dished out a match-high 33 assists while contributing seven digs and four total points.
Defensively, libero Emily Truan anchored the back line with an impressive 30 digs, while Dixie Nance added 17 digs and six kills. As a team, East Central finished with 88 total digs and 10 service aces in the effort.
The Lady Warriors return home to Founders Gymnasium on Community Bank Court this Wednesday, Oct. 22, for a 6:30 p.m. matchup against Northwest Mississippi Community College. The contest will also serve as Sophomore Night, honoring Ainslee Copeland and Riley Tosseng for their contributions to the program.
