ELLISVILLE, Miss. — East Central Community College pushed Jones College to the limit Monday night but fell 103-98 in an overtime battle at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
The Warriors led by as many as 10 in the first half and carried a 45-41 advantage into the break. East Central continued to trade blows throughout the second half, and Gaylon Turner's late 3-pointer gave the Warriors a brief 87-88 edge with under three minutes remaining in regulation. Chris Moliere later converted a three-point play to put East Central ahead 90-88 before Jones tied the game in the final minute to force overtime.
In the extra period, Jones leaned on free throws and timely baskets to pull away.
Moliere led East Central with 25 points, while Tarrell Doby added 21. Jaylen Torgusson posted 15 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks, and Javin Cooper dished out eight assists. Turner provided a spark off the bench with six points, including two 3-pointers.
East Central shot 43.8 percent from the field and knocked down nine 3-pointers but was outscored 38-19 at the free-throw line, proving the difference in a tightly contested game.
