DECATUR, Miss. — The East Central Community College men's soccer team opened its 2025 campaign with a pair of hard-fought home matches, dropping a 3-2 decision to Hinds Community College on Aug. 22 before falling 1-0 to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Aug. 26.
The Warriors (0-2) nearly rallied from an early deficit against Hinds. After conceding three goals in the first half, East Central answered with back-to-back scores. Camilo Lopez Sanchez put the Warriors on the board with an unassisted strike, and Michael Lismore followed with a goal off an assist from Lopez. Despite the momentum, East Central was unable to find the equalizer in the second half.
Goalkeeper Sebastian Montes Mon kept the Warriors close throughout the night, finishing with eight saves on 11 shots faced. Lismore led the attack with three shots, all on goal.
Against Gulf Coast, East Central held strong for most of the match until the Bulldogs broke through in the 81st minute with the lone goal of the night. Montes Mon again stood tall in goal, recording four saves on five shots. Lismore, Daniel Ducculi, and Brandon Grimaldo each registered shots on goal, but the Warriors could not find the net.
East Central will look to secure its first victory of the season when they return to action in MACCC play.
