PERKINSTON & DECATUR, Miss. — East Central Community College men's soccer delivered one of its strongest weeks of the season, defeating No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast on the road before rolling past Holmes at home. The victories improved the Warriors to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in MACCC play.
The week opened in Perkinston, where the Warriors stunned nationally ranked Gulf Coast with a 1-0 shutout. Goalkeeper Sebastian Montes Mon was sensational between the posts, recording 12 saves to keep the Bulldogs off the board. The breakthrough came in the 29th minute when Michael Lismore buried an unassisted strike, and ECCC's back line held firm the rest of the way to secure the upset.
Back home in Decatur two days later, East Central kept its momentum going with a 4-1 win over Holmes. Camilo Lopez Sanchez scored twice, including the opener in the 10th minute and another early in the second half. Lismore added his second goal of the week, while Adriano Moron Huarca sealed the victory with a late strike. Nick Rodriguez also contributed with an assist as the Warriors controlled the tempo from start to finish.
With two key conference wins in four days, ECCC positioned itself among the top contenders in the MACCC. The Warriors return to action on Friday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m. with a road trip to Jones College in Ellisville.
