DECATUR, Miss. – East Central Community College struck first but could not hold the lead in a 2-1 home loss to Copiah-Lincoln on Friday.
Meg Miller put the Warriors ahead in the opening minute, finishing off a free kick from Shelby Stewart to give ECCC a quick 1-0 advantage. The Wolves answered in the 13th minute with a penalty kick by Jess Abrantes to level the match.
After a defensive battle, Copiah-Lincoln broke through in the 82nd minute as Madeline Logan scored off an assist from Ella-Mai Bale to seal the win.
Goalkeeper Jaci Willis recorded six saves for the Warriors, who were outshot 8-1 but stayed within striking distance until the closing minutes.
