Pearl River tops East Central 9-2 in MACCC play

DECATUR – East Central Community College dropped a 9-2 decision to Pearl River in women's soccer Tuesday night at Bailey Stadium.

Pearl River's attack overwhelmed the Warriors early, producing nine goals in the opening half to seize control of the match. ECCC (2-3-1, 0-1 MACCC) battled back with a pair of second-half scores to avoid the shutout.

Meg Miller netted the Warriors' first goal, assisted by Shelby Stewart, while Isabella Rivino added the second on a feed from Raiyleigh Perry. Defensively, goalkeeper Jaci Willis started in net for the Warriors and faced a relentless Pearl River offense that fired nine shots on goal. Despite the setback, ECCC showed flashes of resilience and will look to turn the page quickly as conference play continues.

The Warriors return to action tonight (Sept. 19) when they travel to Summit to face the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
